Indiana-Southeast Wins Seventh Women's Tennis Title
The Grenadiers of Indiana-Southeast continued their tennis supremacy with a clean sweep at the KIAC women's tennis championships.
IUS players finished first in all the singles positions, and then took first place in the doubles rounds as well. The team won the conference tournament for the seventh straight year.
After leading the conference standings all season, Jenni Townsend defeated Dana Ledbetter of Bethel College for first place at #1 singles. Townsend was named the KIAC Player of the Year for her stellar performance all season.
IUS head coach Bill Ryall was named the KIAC Coach of the Year after guiding his team to a perfect 14-0 KIAC record.
IUS is currently ranked 20th in the NAIA in women's tennis. With the conference championship, the team advances to NAIA regional competition, which will be held in April 2006.
Bethel College (Tenn.) also played a strong round of tennis, as several players made it to the championship match. Four players finished as the conference runners-up, and two doubles teams finished second as well. Dana Ledbetter finished the season as the conference runner-up at #1 singles.
