Berea takes individual, team cross country titles

Paul Winker of Berea College finished twelve seconds ahead of teammate Jimmy Ropp to win the KIAC cross country championship on Nov. 5. Winker ran the 8K course in 28:37, and Ropp finished in 28:49.

Berea repeated as the conference team champion, winning the KIAC Men's Cross Country title yet again. Bethel College (Tenn.) finished second, and St. Louis College of Pharmacy finished third.

Berea had the five runners in the chute before Bethel's third runner could finish. Winker, Jimmy Rop and Tom McGann finished 1-2-3 to help the Mountaineers to the title.

In regional competition, held simultaneously with the conference race, Berea's men finished third. Virginia Intermont won the Region XII title. Bethel finished ninth, and St. Louis College of Pharmacy finished twelfth.
