Bethel's National Tournament run ends in 1-0 loss to Graceland

OLATHE, Kan. (Nov. 17, 2005) The Bethel College Lady Wildcat soccer team's season came to a heart breaking end on Thursday afternoon in the second round of the 2005 NAIA National Tournament as #2 seed Graceland (Iowa) nipped Bethel 1-0.

Graceland scored what proved to be the game winning goal just 51 seconds before the half when Reily Madigan scored off a corner kick from Misako Inaba.

Bethel dominated the second half, out shooting Graceland 11-2 and 14-6 for the game. Bethel held a 7-3 edge in shots on goal, but just couldn't put one in the net. The Lady Wildcats also had a slight advantage on corner kicks, 6-4.

Ugo Opara (SO / San Antonio, TX) collected two saves for Bethel, while Maria Prieto of Graceland picked up the win with seven big saves.

Bethel ends another stellar season with a 14-6-2 mark, including their third consecutive appearance at the NAIA Women's Soccer National Touranment. Graceland improves to 15-2-2 and advances to the quarterfinals on Saturday.
