Men's Soccer All-Conference Awards Announced

KIAC champion Mid-Continent University dominated the awards ceremony in much the same way as they dominated conference play. The Cougars claimed six of the 12 all-conference, 1^st team awards, and took home one outstanding player award as well.

Mid-Continent's Charles Achia was selected as the 2005 KIAC Defensive MVP. Andy Varns, of Brescia University, was named the 2005 KIAC Offensive MVP.

The coach-of-the-year honor proved to be a difficult selection. Joe Zakowicz (Mid-Continent University) earned partial ownership of the honor after guiding his team to the conference championship. Josh Oakley (Asbury College) was also tabbed for the honor, as the Eagles impressed opponents with improved play.

Mid-Continent University won the regular season title after going undefeated in conference play. They then won the tournament championship, defeating Asbury 8-1 in the semifinals, and then defeating Bethel College 2-0 in the finals. Mid-Continent moves on to the NAIA Region XII championship, which will be held Nov. 11-12, in Mayfield, Ky. As the #1 seed for that tournament, Mid-Continent will host that championship.
