Jones selected as KIAC men's basketball player of the week
Shannon Jones of Spalding University has been selected as the KIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 5-Dec. 11.
Jones, a 6-6 freshman forward from Shelbyville, Ky., had 52 points and 24 rebounds over the course of three games last week, averaging 17.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest. He had two double-doubles, including a 16 point, ten rebound performance against Tennessee-Martin, an NCAA Division I team. He then had 16 points and 11 rebounds in Spalding's win over Calumet College. He also scored 20 points against Trinity International.
Aaron Jaques (Bethel College), Garrett Smith (Indiana-Southeast) and K.J. Waterman (Alice Lloyd) were also nominated for this week's award.
