Bethel's James named NAIA All-American; O'Grady, Quinn also honored
Olathe, Kan. (December 2, 2005) The NAIA announced its 2005 Women's Soccer All Americans on Thursday and three Bethel College Lady Wildcats picked up honors.
Alicia James, a Junior mid-fielder, picked up 3rd Team All American honors while Leah O'Grady (SO / Mt. Pearl, NL Canada) and Colleen Queen (SR / Ajax, Ont. Canada) were Honorable Mention All-Americans.
James scored 10 goals this season and assisted on 10 goals for the Lady Wildcats. In addition to this honor, James was a 1st Team NAIA Region XII selection. Last season, she was an Honorable Mention All-American and also named to the National Tournament All-Tournament team.
O'Grady earns the Honorable Mention honor for the second straight season. O'Grady led Bethel in scoring with 27 goals and 10 assists. O'Grady was also a first team NAIA Region XII selection at the forward position. O'Grady was the 2005 KIAC Offensive Player of the Year.
Quinn, a first team NAIA Region XII honoree on defense, was Bethel's third
Honorable Mention All-American. She adds this accolade to her 2005 KIAC Defensive Player of the Year award.
Bethel earned its third straight trip to the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championships, rolling through the KIAC and NAIA Region XII tournaments. Bethel ended the year losing in the 2nd round of the national tournament to #2 Graceland (Iowa) 1-0. The Lady Wildcats finished 2005 with a 14-6-2 record.
