Bland represents Asbury College as KIAC men's basketball player of the week
Derek Bland of Asbury College has been named the KIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 28-Dec. 4.
Bland, a 6-1 sophomore guard from Versailles, Ky., put up 30 points in Asbury's game against Tennessee-Chattanooga, a NCAA Division I team. 24 of those points came from three-point range; Bland shot 8 for 18 from behind the arc. He also had three rebounds, one assist, two steals, and went two for two at the free throw line. In a game against Crown College later that week, Bland supplemented his statistics with ten points, two rebounds, two assists, one block, and three steals.
Shawn Newsome (Alice Lloyd College), Thomas Haynes (Bethel College) and Robert Daniels (Indiana-Southeast) were also nominated for this week's award.
