Asbury, IU Southeast advance on opening night of KIAC Volleyball Tournament

Both teams move on to semifinal play Saturday at Indiana University-Southeast

Match 1- #4 Asbury defeats #5 St. Louis College of Pharmacy 3-0

Asbury defeated St. Louis College of Pharmacy 30-15, 30-14, 30-16 in the opening match of quarterfinal play. Asbury weathered runs early in each game from the Eutectics to win in straight games. Christina Mayne of Asbury had 11 kills in the match. Melissa Phillips led Asbury in assists with 19. Asbury advances to play top seeded Spalding in the semifinal at 10am Eastern.

Match 2- #3 Indiana University Southeast defeats #6 Berea 3-0

Indiana University Southeast defeated Berea 30-13, 30-15, 30-9 in the late game from the quarterfinal round. IU Southeast had an early challenge with an 8-2 run at the end of the first game. The Grenadiers were led by Tera Holinden's 11 kills, Katie Tinsley's 26 assists and seven digs from Maegan VanHoose. Megan Dillenger had five digs for Berea. Indiana University Southeast advances to play second seeded Brescia in the 12pm Eastern semifinal.

The winners of the semifinal matches play at 3pm Eastern time for the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship.
