Asbury set to host first KIAC - Mid-South Challenge
Asbury set to host first of a six-year installment to promote collegiate basketball in the state.
WILMORE, KY-The Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) and the Mid-South Conference will square off in a three-game challenge this Saturday, December 9th at the Luce Center on the campus of Asbury College in Wilmore. The event is a triple-header of basketball with one representative from the KIAC taking on another from the Mid-South. Featured amongst the participants are two teams ranked in the latest NAIA Top 25 (Dec. 6), Campbellsville at #6 with Georgetown (Ky.) at #16. Asbury received 56 points in the latest poll, placing them just outside the Top 25 at #28.
The schedule of events for Saturday is below (NAIA rank in parentheses):
3:00 p.m.: Alice Lloyd College vs. University of the Cumberlands
5:00 p.m.: Berea College vs. (#16) Georgetown College
7:00 p.m.: (RV) Asbury College vs. (#6) Campbellsville University
"We feel this is a great event to help showcase small-college basketball in the state of Kentucky, offering kids the chance to play collegiate basketball while pursuing their education", said Berea College head coach John Mills, who spearheaded the effort to make the event a reality.
The Challenge will rotate over the next six years to different host sites with the pairings being set by the home school each year. The rotation is as follows:

2008 Alice Lloyd College (Pippa Passes, Ky.)
2009 University of the Cumberlands (Williamsburg, Ky.)
2010 Campbellsville University (Campbellsville, Ky.)
2011 Georgetown College (Georgetown, Ky.)
