Bethel College (Tenn.) Sports Information Director Matt Floyd announced his resignation as of Friday, March 10, 2006.

In addition, Floyd has stepped down as the Head Women's Tennis Coach and Gaines Pool Director.

Floyd, a native of Gleason, Tenn., has held the position of Sports Information Director, Women's Tennis Coach and Gaines Pool Director since 2001. According to Dr. Jerry H. Wilcoxson, Head Men's Golf Coach and former Athletic Director, "Matt is one of the most talented people I have ever known." That is a huge compliment since Dr. Wilcoxson has been at the college since 1967. Matt has taken this position from a part-time job and turned it into one of the most well organized operations and has become one of the most well respected SIDs in the NAIA. "People do not realize how much time and energy Matt has put into this position over the past four years, he was a true workaholic," commented Athletic Director Jeff Britt. "He will be missed for a long time to follow, regardless of who is hired as his replacement. Working beside him on a daily basis, I have seen what he has done to help improve media relations and our athletic department as a whole."
"We are really going to miss him and the work he does for us," commented Athletic Department Office Manager Lindsay Breeden. "All of us wish him the best in the future, and our good friend is going to be very much missed and hard to replace."

Floyd, who received a B.S. in Accounting and Business from Bethel in 1999, will be moving on the business world to take an auditing position in the Nashville area. "I felt this was the time in my life to make a career change," commented Matt. "I have been associated with Bethel College for over 10 years. This was not an easy decision. I have made a lot of close friends and have enjoyed my work at Bethel. The college will always be a part of my life in one way or another."
