Indiana University East accepted into the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The conference's Executive Committee approved the school unanimously for membership retroactive to July 1st, 2007.

Indiana University East becomes the ninth member of the conference and will be an associate member for the 2007-08 year sponsoring Volleyball, Men's Basketball, and Men's Golf. The school will add three more sports next year to get to the six for full membership in 2008-09.

KIAC Interim Commissioner John Mills welcomed in the school and new opportunities IU East will bring. "IU East brings a freshness to the conference being a new athletic program. We have the opportunity as a conference to help nurture IU East as they begin this new journey of having Collegiate Athletics on their campus." said Mills.

Mark Hester, IU East Athletic director and men's basketball coach, thinks the conference will help draw future recruits. "Student-athletes want to compete for a conference title and national title. That's a big benefit for us in terms of recruiting." Hester said.
