Seven teams fight for NAIA Tournament Automatic Bid
The 2007 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Tournament pairings were set Sunday night. All games for the tournament are held February 22nd to February 24th at HOOPS in Jeffersontown, Kentucky. The winner of the tournament gets an automatic bid to the 32 team NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship Tournament held in Sioux City, Iowa from March 7th-13th, 2007.
Alice Lloyd (15-11, 9-1 in KIAC) clinches the top seed over IU Southeast (20-7, 9-2). In a tiebreak, Asbury (12-13, 2-9) won over Midway (10-20, 2-9) after a coin flip for fifth and sixth place.
Quarterfinal play takes place on Thursday. Second seeded IU Southeast faces up against seventh seeded St. Louis College of Pharmacy (0-6, 4-18) at 4pm. Third seeded Berea (19-7, 7-3) takes on sixth seeded Midway at 6 pm. For the nightcap, fourth seeded Spalding (6-5, 7-22) will face fifth seeded Asbury at 8pm.
The tournament semi finals on Friday match the IU Southeast/STLCOP winner against Berea/Midway winner at 6pm. Alice Lloyd plays the Spalding/ Asbury place winner at 8pm. The championship game occurs Saturday night at 8pm.
