Recaps from Quaterfinal Play at HOOPS in Jeffersontown, Ky.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (February 22, 2006) The 2006-07 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) men's basketball tournament began on Thursday at HOOPS in Jeffersontown, Ky. The quarterfinal round play took place Thursday. Berea College and Indiana University Southeast won on Thursday advancing to Friday's semifinal round while Alice Lloyd College and St. Louis College of Pharmacy were eliminated from the 2006-07 championship.

Game #1 (12:00 p.m.) No. 4 Berea College vs. No. 5 Alice Lloyd College

No 4 Berea defeated No. 5 Alice Lloyd on Thursday 86-75. The game was tightly contested most of the way through. The battle inside proved key as Berea (13-16) had 26 rebounds compared to 18 for Alice Lloyd (10-18).

Berea was led by a 30 point effort from Thomas Klimas. Klimas also had nine rebounds. Melvin Brown had 20 points and was 8 for 10 from the field. Jordan Samuels had 13 points and five assists.

For Alice Lloyd, William Dillard had 20 points and seven assists. Shawn Newsome scored 19 and had two steals. Three players tied for four rebounds each.

Berea moves on to semifinal play on Friday when they will square off against No. 1 Spalding University at 2:00 p.m.

Game #2 (2:00 p.m.) No. 3 IU Southeast vs. No. 6 STLCOP

No. 3 Indiana University Southeast defeated No. 6 St. Louis College of Pharmacy 101-75 on Thursday. The Grenadiers used a well balanced attack to their advantage. Seven players for Indiana University Southeast had 10 or more points.

Indiana University Southeast (19-9) had a big game from Craig Bryant with 20 points, three assists and 2 blocks. Nick Guilinger led in rebounds with six. Brady Richie was among leaders in assists with four.

For St. Louis College of Pharmacy (5-20), Josh Boudeman led the Eutectics with 20points including 10 of 13 from field and seven rebounds. Cody McGraw also had seven rebounds. Five assists came from Jonas Parker's hands.

No. 3 Indiana Southeast advances to semifinal action Friday afternoon. They will square off against No. 2 Asbury College at 4:00 p.m.
