LOUISVILLE, Ky. (February 22, 2006) The 2006-07 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) men's basketball tournament continued on Friday at HOOPS in Jeffersontown, Ky. The second day of action featured two men's basketball semifinals. Spalding University and Asbury College won advancing to Saturday's final while Berea College and Indiana University Southeast were eliminated from the 2006-07 championship.

Game #3 (2:00 p.m.) No. 1 Spalding University vs. No. 4 Berea College

No.1 Spalding University defeated No. 4 Berea College 74-54 on Friday. Defense was the key for Spalding with 10 blocks, seven steals and 15 turnovers forced. The offense also laid the pressure on with a 44 percent shooting effort while Berea shot 28 percent.

An impressive double double led Spalding (18-13) with Chartrae'l Hall's 15 points and 16 rebounds. The leading scorer for the Golden Eagles was Chad O'Brien with 16 points. Willam Ford also had 15 points.

For Berea (13-17), Tomas Kilmas led the 36 team rebounds with 15 of his own. Charles Wandera also assisted the Mountaineers on the glass with eight boards. Melvin Brown had the top individual game score with 21 points.

Game #2 (4:00 p.m.) No. 2 Asbury College vs. No. 3 Indiana University Southeast

No. 2 Asbury College won in the late semifinal over No. 3 Indiana University Southeast 87-77 on Friday. An even contest was blown open in the second half by Asbury with an impressive 70 percent field goal percentage. The second half effort gave the Eagles just over 50 percent for the game.

Asbury's (22-8) Derek Bland led the scoring attack with 17 points. The top rebounder on the Eagles squad was Ben Spann with 10 points. Matt Pittman's eight assists helped contribute to the 22 team assists.

For Indiana University Southeast (19-10), Nick Stephens was on top of the Grenadiers scoring with 16 points. Closely behind, Carlos Mitchell put home 15 points. Nick Gullinger grabbed a team high eight rebounds.
