Spalding Loses Close Contest Against Hosts in NAIA Men's Tournament
Golden Eagles lose to Host School College of Ozarks (Mo.)
Spalding University lost to host school College of the Ozarks 66-61 on Friday night in the Round of 16 at the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Championship.
Spalding (20-14) took an early 8-3 lead before Ozarks regained and extended their advantage throughout the first half. After a 35-26 Ozarks lead at half, Spalding would narrow the advantage to three with 14 minutes left. Attempts to tie up the game were thwarted by College of Ozarks player Michael Bonaparte as he took over the game with 32 points and 13 rebounds.
Chartrea'l Hall led the charge for Spalding with 31 points and 13 players. Adrian Des Las Heras added seven points for the Golden Eagles. Shannon Jones struggled to get six points and three rebounds despite foul trouble all game long.
