Captain of Grenadiers Women's Tennis Honored

Jenni Townsend of Indiana University Southeast won the 2007 Female Athlete of the Year for the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Huntingbird, Indiana (Southridge High) Senior was honored for her role as part of the women's team title in tennis this spring.
Townsend was undefeated in conference play all four years, including both singles and doubles. The Grenadiers captain was ranked 47th in the NAIA in singles, and 22nd in doubles. She also excelled in the classroom with a 3.76 GPA. Her work in class led to ITA Scholar-Athlete All-American and NAIA Women's Tennis Scholar Team all four years.
Townsend beat out Becky Thomas (Alice Lloyd), Melissa Phillips (Asbury), Rebecca May (Berea), and Amy Hall (St. Louis College of Pharmacy) for the award.
