CCU becomes 10th Member of the KIAC

Cincinnati Christian University becomes the latest Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference over the weekend beginning in the 2008-09 season. The conference athletic directors made the approval after the NAIA Board of Presidents added the school at the National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky.

Cincinnati Christian comes from the NCCAA and has nine sports currently. All nine sports will be phased into the KIAC and NAIA offer the next three years. CCU will offer men's basketball, men's soccer, and men's golf as KIAC members in the 2008-09 season. In 2009-10, women's basketball and women's soccer will join the conference. By 2010-11, baseball, men's and women's cross country, and volleyball will compete in the KIAC.

"Obviously, it's one of the biggest moments in CCU Athletics history, if not the biggest," athletic director Jeremy Jones said. "To make a step like this took a lot of support from the President's Cabinet, Faculty, and Trustees and we certainly thank them for all of the help and support."
Cincinnati Christian was founded in 1924 and is located just off I-75 in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. The university has three schools: Cincinnati Bible College, College of Adult Learning (CALL), and Cincinnati Bible Seminary. The university has an enrollment of 1,100.
"It is a delight Cincinnati Christian University is joining the KIAC," Commissioner Bill Melton said. "We are looking forward to the sports they offer as we continue to grow as a conference."
Cincinnati Christian joins Alice Lloyd College, Asbury College, Berea College, Brescia University, Indiana University East, Indiana University Southeast, Midway College, Mountain State University, and Saint Louis College of Pharmacy as schools in the KIAC.
