Brescia Announces Hiring of Women's Basketball Coach
Lady Bearcats hire John Swickrath
John Swickrath has been hired as the new head coach of the Brescia University Women's Basketball program, athletic director Jeff Falkner announced Wednesday. Swickrath comes to BU after spending the past five seasons at Lynchburg College, in Lynchburg, VA.
"We are pleased to have Coach Swickrath join our staff here at Brescia University," Falkner said. "He is an energetic young coach who understands what it takes to have a successful program, both on and off the court."
As a collegian, Swickrath was a four-year letter-winner and 2001 graduate of Division III Denison University (Ohio) where he averaged 13 points and nine rebounds in his senior season. Swickrath also competed in baseball and football for the Big Red. Swickrath earned a B.A. in History and Education from Denison and holds a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University.
"I am extremely excited to be named the next head women's basketball coach at Brescia University, "Swickrath said. "After meeting with all of the wonderful people on campus and with the team during the interview process, I knew this was the right place for me. I am eager to start working with the team and build on the successes of the last few seasons."
The Lady Bearcats are coming off of an 18-13 season and back-to-back appearances in the NAIA DI National Tournament.
