Co Male Athletes of the Year Named
Jordan Samuels of Berea and Andrew Varns of Brescia take honors
Jordan Samuels and Andrew Varns were named Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Co Male Athletes of the Year.
Andrew Varns was one of the more dominant players on Brescia's soccer team. He will go down as the leading scorer of all time at the school with 84. Varns led the KIAC for the past three years. In the 2007 season, he won Offensive Player-of-the-Year in the KIAC, a First-Team All-Region XII selection, and an Honorable Mention All-American.
Jordan Samuels contributions came both on and off the court. During his career, Samuels had 1028 points, 538 rebounds, 184 assists, and 97 steals. Because of his efforts, the Berea College Mountaineers enjoyed their best season in four years finishing second in the regular season and runner up in the post-season tournament. Off the court, Samuels helped collect 800 pounds of canned food in the Sodexho Cans Across America Food Drive for community members during the holidays.
