Three Softball Players Represent the KIAC in Spain

Three KIAC softball players represent the United States in Spain.

Jennifer Hibbard (Midway College), Paige Dickey (IU Southeast) and Brittany Bennett (IU Southeast) all represented the United States in competition during July.

The three local players made the trip with USA Athletes International. IU Southeast Head Softball Coach Todd Buckingham was one of two coaches for the team of U.S. softball players. Chad Slyter from Valley City State University (N.D.) also coached the team of players who were all selected by invitation only.

USA Athletes International, Inc. (USAAI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving college and high school athletes and coaches the opportunity to participate in competition around the world, to promote sports and foster an international bond, as well as provide those athletes chosen to play with the opportunity to broaden their educational, cultural and competitive knowledge of the world.

Coach Buckingham felt that the trip was a wonderful opportunity for everyone involved. "We had a lot of fun representing the United States in these good-will games. It was a true honor to be selected and we all had a once in a lifetime experience in the beautiful country of Spain."
