River States Conference

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (August 21st, 2008) - The Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is proud to announce the coaches preseason poll results for the 2008 Fall Season. The preseason picks to win the conference are Indiana University Southeast in Volleyball, Asbury College in Women's Soccer, and Mountain State University in Men's Soccer.

VOLLEYBALL- Indiana University Southeast is favored to repeat their regular season title after going 7-0 in conference during 2007. Following close behind in second is 2007 postseason champion Mountain State University. Asbury College and Indiana University East were locked in a tie for third. IU East will be eligible to compete in postseason play in 2008. Brescia University slipped to the fifth spot while Midway College, Berea College and St. Louis College of Pharmacy rounded out the voting.

WOMEN'S SOCCER- Asbury College's 2007 win in regular season and postseason is predicted to be repeated. Brescia University's team is expected to follow closely in second. Berea College and Mountain State University tied for third in voting. Midway College debuts its varsity team this season after having club play last year and is predicted to finish fifth.

MEN'S SOCCER- Mountain State University edged out the votes for top spot in 2008 polling. 2007 postseason champ Asbury College also had a first place vote for this year's voting. Brescia finished off the top three in a close race separated by only two points. Berea College was picked in fourth just ahead of new KIAC member Cincinnati Christian University.
