Asbury Men Win Soccer Championship
Bluefield, Va. - Jonathan Lewis' penalty kick with 19 minutes left gave the Eagles a 2-1 victory over Berea and their second KIAC Championship in three years and third straight title game appearance.
Asbury (6-13) beat Berea for the second time this year, but this time by a much closer margin after destroying the Mountaineers 7-1 back on October 14
th. The Eagles will have to play one more game before qualifying for the NAIA National Tournament because the KIAC has fewer than six members for men's soccer. The Eagles will await the winner of William Carey and University of Mobile in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference on Monday. The winner will play Asbury sometime next weekend with the winner moving on to the national tournament.
The team with the higher LONGO Rating will host the match. More details will be posted as they become available.
