KIAC Womens Basketball Semifinals Host Alice Lloyd and Top Seed IU Southeast square off for the crown Saturday.

KIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT DAY TWO

PIPPA PASSES, Ky. (February 27, 2009) - The 2008-09 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) women's basketball tournament continued Friday at Alice Lloyd College. Indiana University Southeast and Alice Lloyd College won in the two semifinals to advance to the Saturday 8:00 p.m. final. Asbury College and Berea College were eliminated.

Game #3 (6:00 p.m.) No. 1 Indiana University Southeast vs. No. 4 Asbury College

No. 1 Indiana University Southeast defeated No. 4 Asbury College 56-38 Friday. IU Southeast (18-8) went to the locker room with a 26-20 lead and further expanded the lead after holding Asbury's (15-17) shooting percentage to 20 percent for the contest. IU Southeast moved the ball around and held the assists lead nine to one for the game.

IU Southeast's top performance come from Tiffani Slaughter's (Louisville, Ky. / Eastern) 13 points and nine rebounds. Megan Murphy (Bloomington, Ind. /Bloomington South) scored 11 points from a four for eight shooting night from the field. Andrea Chambers (Evansville Ind. /Evansville North) also pulled down seven boards.

Asbury's leading scorer was Anna Stephenson (Covington, Ky.) with 15. Courtney Albin (Hartford Ky.) added 11 on the night. Hayley Spivey (Harrodsburg, Ky.) pulled down nine rebounds including seven for the defensive side.

Game #4 (8:00 p.m.) No.2 Berea College vs. No. 3 Alice Lloyd College

No. 3 Alice Lloyd College defeated No. 2 Berea College 89-81 Friday. Berea (17-12) led for most of the way by narrow margins until Alice Lloyd (17-13) took the lead with two and a half minutes left and finished out on a 12-3 run to advance to Saturday. Alice Lloyd 52 percent field goal shooting percentage and a 48-30 rebounding edge kept them in the game and proved crucial late.

Alice Lloyd's Camille Cook (Whitesburg, Ky.) had a double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Bree Fraiser (Louisa, Ky.) made key shots late and finished with 15 points and six assists. Nicole Lutes (Jackson, Ky.) rounded out the top three with 12 points.

Berea had three in double figures for points. Candy Walls (Stanton, Ky. /Powell Co.) scored 20 points and had seven rebounds. Heather Hutchins (Lebanon, Ky. /Marion Co.) scored 15 on a five for ten from the field outing. Annbruce Madden (Lexington, Ky. /Paul Dunbar) assisted eight times and scored 14.
