Grenadiers advance to second round for the first time.
March 11, 2009 - The IU Southeast men's basketball program earned its first win in school history at the NAIA Men's Basketball National Tournament on Wednesday morning 76-59 over Briar Cliff (Iowa) in the opening game of this year's tournament.
IU Southeast was 0-5 at the national tournament before winning today over Briar Cliff (Iowa).
Jazzmarr Ferguson (Louisville, Ky. - Moore Traditional H.S.) led the team with 19 points and eight rebounds. Craig Bryant (New Albany, Ind. - New Albany H.S.) scored 18 points with four rebounds to help lead the Grenadiers to victory. IU Southeast shot 50-percent from the field and 42-percent from 3 -point range for the game.
The Grenadiers (24-7 / 10-1 KIAC) will now move to the Sweet Sixteen round of the tournament where they will face the winner of No. 2-seed Bethel College (IN) on Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. (CT).
