NAIA Praises Turner's Big Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Mikah Turner of Berea College (Ky.) was named the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Turner received the honor based on his performances from Jan. 18-24. He was chosen out of a pool of player of the week selections among 16 conferences and independents.
Turner, a 6-3 senior forward from Maysville, Ky., averaged over 30 points and 10 rebounds during a 2-1 week for the Mountaineers (13-8). In the 85-61 win over Asbury (Ky.) on Jan. 19, Turner tallied 26 points and 13 rebounds. He continued his scoring tear with 33 points and 10 rebounds in the 101-61 victory over Kentucky Christian on Jan. 21. His 34 points, 10 rebounds were not enough in the 79-74 loss to Brescia (Ky.) on Jan. 23.
In three games last week, Turner averaged 31.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.7 steals, 1.0 assists and 1.0 blocks. He was 37-for-65 (.569) from the field, 9-for-21 (.429) from 3-point range and 10-for-16 (.625) from the charity stripe.
Turner ranks fourth in the NAIA in scoring (26.4 ppg) and 36th in rebounding (8.1 rpg). He has scored in double-digits in all 20 games this year, including more than 30 points nine times.
