Berea, KY. (November 18th, 2010) - In the past week, Berea College men's basketball defeated two NAIA Division I schools. Both schools were from the Mid-South Conference.

On November 13th, Berea defeated Shawnee State University 76-73. Darrin Dorsey set the pace for Berea with a game high 25 points and 8 rebounds. Rudy Evans chipped in with 14 points and 5 assists.

Berea followed up the victory against Shawnee State with another impressive performance against Lindsey Wilson on November 16th. The game was decided in overtime with Berea winning 70-68. Dorsey led all scorers with 30 points including six 3-pointers.

Berea head coach John Hemenway discovered a few things about his team with the two wins. "The most important thing we found out as a team is that we can compete with teams at the NAIA Division I level that have more size than we do. Our team is playing hard and trying to play the right way and those were two team goals we had to start the year."

"Darrin played at a very high level in both games especially at the offensive end and we had just enough contributions from guys like Rudy Evans, Chase Wofford, Josh Clark and Lathan Bennett to pull us through," said Hemenway. "We have a lot of respect for all the players and coaches in the Mid-South but at the same time we believe if we play well and compete, we have a chance to win every time we take the floor."

With two wins against Division I opponents, Berea is off to a fast start and believes they can continue their success. Coach Hemenway noted, "Even though we are extremely small, I like our team and if we can continue doing the things that we have done well to this point, we will have a chance to have a good year. I think we are gaining confidence from our good start."

Berea returns to the court November 19th against Mount Nazarene College.
