2010 KIAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SEMIFINALS
IU Southeast and Brescia play at 1:00 PM for the KIAC Title
FRANKFORT, Ky. (February 26, 2010) - Top seed Indiana University Southeast and Brescia University will play for the 2010 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) women's basketball tournament title after wins on Friday at the Frankfort Convention Center (FCC). Both winners will play in Saturday afternoon's 1:00 final at FCC.
Semifinal #1 (2:00 p.m.) No.1 Indiana University Southeast vs. No. 4 Asbury College
No. 1 Indiana University Southeast defeated No. 4 Asbury College Friday 52-41. The game was low scoring in both halves. Asbury (14-17) took an early lead 7-6 with 9:46 left in the first. IU Southeast (22-8) would take the lead back 16-13 under two minutes in the first and held it the rest of the way. Rebounding was relatively even between the teams while IU Southeast led in blocks 7-1.
Indiana University Southeast's Ashmere Woods (Louisville, Ky.) was the top scorer with 18 points. Her nine boards also led the team. Alden Krausse (Floyds Knobs, Ind.) had eight points with six boards. Whitney Duncan (Louisville, Ky.) had four of IU Southeast's eight assists.
Asbury's Lakin Griffith (Sandy Hook, Ky.) had 17 rebounds including twelve on the defensive boards. Courtney Albin (Hartford, Ky.) led the Eagles in points with 17. Ellen Gray (Owensboro, Ky.) made two threes for her six points on the game.

Semifinal #2 (4:00 p.m.) No. 2 Berea College vs. No. 3 Brescia University
No. 3 Brescia University defeated. No. 2 Berea College Friday 61-55. Both teams scored evenly through the first 28 minutes before Brescia's 8-0 run took them ahead 43-32. Berea (11-19) would chip away at the lead in the second half and got within three points late before Brescia (18-13) held on.
Brescia advanced to its first KIAC Final behind a 41-26 rebounding advantage. On the glass, Amelia Keller(Palmyra, Mo.) led the way with 10. Erika Murphy (Burkesville, Ky.) grabbed all eight of her boards on the defensive end. Brittany Bird's (Leitchfield, Ky.) 26 points led all scorers in the game with Clarissa Houston (Morganfield, Ky.) scoring 12.
Three players scored in double figures for Berea. Annbruce Madden (Lexington, Ky.) scored 13 to lead the Mountaineer scorers. Emily Hinkson's (Paris, Ky.) 12 points were supplemented with nine rebounds. Ashley Fowler (Somerset, Ky.) finished with 11 points with three for six in shots behind the arc.
