Eagles Allow Only One Hit in Two Games

Wilmore, Ky. - Asbury hit two grand slams in the first inning of game one en route to a 15-run inning and a 25-0, 17-0 sweep over Ohio Christian University. Ohio Christian is in the first year as a program and was playing their first two games of the season.

Asbury (7-1) allowed only one hit in the two games combined, Kelsey Robinson and Brittany Carr combined on the no-hitter in game one. Robinson (3-0) started and pitched three innings striking out five, Carr pitched the last two innings and struck out two. Carr walked a batter with two outs in the fifth for the Trailblazers' lone base runner of the game.

Maris Harreld and Danielle Jennings combined on the one-hit shutout in game two. Harreld (3-0) pitched the first three innings striking out seven, Jennings came in and finished out the last two innings. Jennings gave up the lone hit on the day for Ohio Christian in the fourth inning.

Molly Knight was 4-4 with four runs scored and eight RBIs in game one and hit the first Grand Slam in the first inning for the Eagles. Knight also hit three doubles in the game, and would finish the day 5-5 with 10 RBIs. Emily Ethington would hit the second Grand Slam in the first inning of game one as the Eagles collected 10 hits and reached via a walk six times.

The Eagles would score three more in the second off the bat of Mirranda Drury as she belted her first home run of the season. Asbury would add seven more in the third. The Eagles collected 19 hits and had 12 players collect a hit and five players accumulate more than one.

Asbury would get started early in game two by scoring 10 in the bottom of the first inning. Five players would have multiple hit games as Amber Taylor collected four in five at-bats. Tessa Carroll drove in four runs and Molly McClendon brought home three more.

Asbury set at least five school records in the first game including, most runs in a game (25), most runs in an inning (15-1st), most grand slams in a game (2), most grand slams in an inning(2-1st). Molly Knight also set school records four doubles in a game (3), total bases (10), and RBIs (8).

Asbury will host Mid-Continent University on Monday March 15th at 5:00 pm.
