April 20.The Indiana University East men's golf team spent the afternoon hanging out with youngsters at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wayne County.
Red Wolves Nick Ary, Mark Bevins, Derrick McNeely, Zack Palmer and Brandon Loomis played kickball, dodgeball and basketball with about 50 youngsters.
Ary said many of the youngsters took the opportunity to ask about college life and college sports
"It seemed like they had fun with all of the activities that we participated in," Ary said. "They were very enthusiastic. They were asking us alot of questions about college and about golf."
Ary said the younger athletes didn't back down from their older competition!
"One of the main things is that they seemed to enjoy competing in sports against older guys, which allowed them to show us some of their skills and athletic ability," he said.
Ary said the afternoon gave the Red Wolves a reason to smile as they prepare for the pressures of Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament on April 23 and final exams soon after.
"We really enjoyed this day because we are currently down to the main stretch of our tournament schedule and closing down the school year with finals quickly approaching, so it gave us the opportunity to step back from things and relax a little bit," Ary said.
"It was great to be out in the community representing the school and spending some quality time with some great kids."
