IU East hosts golf tournament
RICHMOND, Ind. - A lone wolf represented the Indiana University East
women's golf program at the J.C. Penney Women's Apparel Spring Golf
Classic on April 6 at Highland Lake Golf Course.Freshman Kelli Moore
(Arcanum, Ohio/Franklin Monroe High School) played alongside the No. 1
golfers from the University of Northwestern Ohio and Urbana University
during the 18-hole tournament on the Red Wolves' home course.
"It
was good for me to play with them. It made me play better," Moore said.
Moore
finished with a 115 on the par 72, 5,859-yard layout.
Northwestern
Ohio won the event with a team score of 360.
Christy Brinkman of
UNOH was medalist with an 86. Brinkman tied with teammate Erin Winings,
but Brinkman's lower score on the 15th hole was the tiebreaker. The
players had identical scores on the last three holes.

Moore started strong with a par on two of
the first five holes and a 20-foot putt on No. 7.
She couldn't
keep the momentum going on the back nine and finished with her second
consecutive 115 of the spring.
"The front nine was good," Moore
said. "The back nine I just fell apart."
Added IU East coach Von
Ebeling: "Kelli had to come in and play the top competition from other
teams. She hung in and played the best she could, and that's something
we can build on."
The event was the only home competition of the
2010 season for the IU East golf program.
Ebeling thanked the
staff at Highland Lake and sponsor J.C. Penney for their support of the
tournament.
"We look forward to hosting more events here," Ebeling
said. "Things went as smoothly as they could have gone today.
"The
wind was definitely a factor in the higher scores, but the athletes
seemed to enjoy themselves and played and competed until the end."
