Indiana University East senior guard Brent Burris passed a pair of significant milestones this month.

Burris broke IU East's NAIA school record for career rebounds, and then became the second IU East player to score 1,000 career points in NAIA competition.

Burris broke IU East's NAIA school record for career rebounds during the Jan. 8 game at IU Southeast.

Burris grabbed seven rebounds against the Grenadiers to push his career total to 382.

DeCoreo Edwards helds the previous IU East mark with 376 career rebounds.

"I want to send a shout out to my boy DeCoreo," said Burris, who played with Edwards for two seasons.

"I would rather have the win, but it's nice to have a place in the record books."

Burris also holds IU East's career records for assists and steals.

Burris passed the career 1,000-point mark as IU East won 107-83 at Asbury on Jan. 11.

Burris' 3-pointer with about eight minutes remaining in the first half pushed him over the 1,000-point mark for his career.

Burris is the second IU East player to score 1,000 points in NAIA competition. Fellow Red Wolves senior Tyler Rigby (Bryant, Ind/Jay County High School) was the charter member of IU East's 1,000-point club.

"Congratulations to Brent," said IU East coach Mark Hester. "I can't say enough about a kid who has worked as hard as he has to become the player he's become.

"Somebody like that who has had that type of career, I hope he has a chance to step back and enjoy those accomplishments."

Burris found out about the milestone from teammate David Sanders at halftime.

"It feels good to be there (at 1,000 points)," Burris said. "And I'm glad we got a big conference win."
