Sarah Drury-Petkovic Resigns from IU Southeast
NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Sarah Drury-Petkovic announced today that she has resigned her position as assistant coach of the IU Southeast volleyball team.
Drury-Petkovic is leaving IU Southeast to become the Director of Volleyball Operations at the University of Louisville under new Cardinals Head Coach Anne Kordes.
"We couldn't be more thankful or appreciative for all of Sarah's hard work and dedication to our student-athletes," said Joe Glover, interim athletic director at IU Southeast.
"This is a very exciting time for Sarah and her family.She has been a tremendous asset to our entire Grenadier athletic family and we will miss her greatly," said Glover. "I have no doubt that she will be a wonderful asset to the University of Louisville Volleyball program."
Petkovic was a standout volleyball player at the University of Louisville from 1999-2002 primarily as a defensive specialist and libero.
Breaking normal tradition, the end of her college volleyball eligibility was not the end of Drury-Petkovic's playing career. She played five years with the United States National Team winning a gold medal in the 2005 NORCECA Continental Championship and a silver medal at the 2008 NORCECA Championship. In 2006, she finished 4th as a libero at the World Championships.
Drury-Petkovic was also a member of the Pan American Cup Team from 2003-2006.
Drury-Petkovic also earned the distinction of being an alternate for the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece in 2004.
A native of Louisville, Drury-Petkovic joined the IU Southeast volleyball coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2009.
A search for her replacement will begin immediately.
