Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll Released
The 2011-2012 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic conference preseason men's basketball poll was released Friday, October 21st by KIAC officials. The two teams that advanced to the NAIA National Tournament take the top two spots in the preseason poll.
The defending conference tournament champion Indiana University Southeast was selected as the top team. The Grenadiers received five first-place votes and 61 total points. Last season, IU Southeast finished in a tie for first place in the regular season after finishing with an 11-2 conference record. They went on to capture the conference tournament and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament.
Indiana University East sits in the second spot in the preseason poll with three first-place votes and 57 total points. The Red Wolves finished the regular season with an 11-2 record. They were the conference tournament runner-up and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament.
Asbury University is third in the preseason poll with 45 points. Brescia University is projected to finish fourth with 38 points and Berea College is fifth with 34 points. Alice Lloyd College is sixth with 27 points, followed by Cincinnati Christian University (17 points) and St. Louis College of Pharmacy (9 points).
Conference play will begin on December 3rd. The season will conclude with the KIAC Tournament March 25-28.
