Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll Released
The 2011-2012 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic conference preseason women's basketball poll was released Friday, October 21st by KIAC officials. The defending regular season and conference tournament champion, Indiana University Southeast, was selected in the top spot.
The KIAC coaches tabbed Indiana University Southeast as the top team in the conference with five first-place votes and 44 total points. The Grenadiers finished the regular season with a perfect 13-0 record. They went on to win the conference tournament and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament.
Alice Lloyd College sits in the second spot in the preseason poll with one first-place vote and 36 total points. Brescia University is projected third with 35 points. Asbury University is fourth with 32 points, followed by Midway College (22 points), Berea College (20 points) and St. Louis College of Pharmacy (7 points).
Conference play will begin on December 3rd. The season will conclude with the KIAC Tournament February 21-25.
