IU East Volleyball Players Named NAIA All-Americans
Lauren Crump and Breezy Strete connected again on the 2011 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball All-America Teams.
Crump (Indianapolis, Ind./Scecina Memorial High School) and Strete (Troy, Ohio/Troy High School) both are honorable mention All-Americans, the NAIA announced Dec. 5.
It's the second All-America honor for Crump, a junior setter. She was a second-team selection in 2010.
Strete, a junior middle hitter. becomes the first IU East athlete to earn All-America honors three times. She has been an honorable mention selection all three of her college seasons.
Crump led the nation in assists per set for the second consecutive season. She averaged 11.79 assists per set and holds every significant IU East setting record.
"It's nice to wrap up the year with this honorable mention," Crump said. "'B' and I definitely put in the work, as well as the rest of the team.
"It's also a huge motivator for next season. I know what our team is capable of, and the nation will soon find out!"
Strete finished 11th in the NAIA in hitting percentage at .366 and led the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with 3.4 kills per set.
She holds every significant IU East kills record.
"It's awesome to have made the list again," Strete said. It feels really good, but again, this is a team award and there would not be an award given to us if our team hadn't worked as hard as it did."
Crump and Strete have connected for about 1,500 IU East kills over the past three years.
IU East completed its 2011 season with a 37-9 record and advanced to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship for the third consecutive year.
IU East is one of seven teams in the NAIA to win 30 games in each of the past three seasons.
