Alice Lloyd's John Mills Named Women's Basketball Coach of the Year
In his first season as the head coach at Alice Lloyd, John Mills has been named the KIAC women's basketball coach of the year. Coach Mills led Alice Lloyd to a tie for second place in the conference with a 9-4 record and an overall record of 13-14. Alice Lloyd won 4 of their last 5 conference games and enters the conference tournament as the #3 seed as a result of the conference tiebreaker rules.
Coach Mills has received the same award previously on the women's level once before (1994 TVAC Coach of the Year). On the men' level, he has been voted NAIA Regional Coach of the Year once (2003), and KIAC Coach of the Year three times (2004, 2008, 2009). When asked about his honor Mills replied, "These awards are special because you are being recognized by your peers. However, your players have to produce the results. I am just simply the recipient of these ladies' hard work and dedication. This award actually belongs to them more than it belongs to me."
Alice Lloyd will open the tournament at home against #6 seed Asbury University.
