Women's Basketball All-Conference Team and Coach of the Year

Berea, Ky. (February 23^rd, 2011) - The KIAC coaches have selected Brescia University guard Brittany Bird as the conference player of the year and John Mills as the coach of the year.

Brittany Bird led the KIAC in scoring with an average of 21.19 points per game. The senior guard also averaged 4 rebounds, 7.06 assists, and 4.26 steals per game. She was sixth in the NAIA Division II in points per game and was first in assists and steals per game. Brescia completed the regular season with an overall record of 21-10 and finished in a tie for second with Alice Lloyd with a 9-4 record. As the #2 seed, Brescia won their first round conference tournament game against Berea and will play #3 seed Alice Lloyd on February 24^th.

John Mills was named the KIAC coach of the year after leading Alice Lloyd to a regular season second place tie with Brescia University. Asbury finished the season with an overall record of 14-14 and a conference record of 9-4. Coach Mills has received the same award previously on the women's level once before (1994 TVAC Coach of the Year). On the men' level, he has been voted NAIA Regional Coach of the Year once (2003), and KIAC Coach of the Year three times (2004, 2008, 2009). When asked about his honor Mills replied, "These awards are special because you are being recognized by your peers. However, your players have to produce the results. I am just simply the recipient of these ladies' hard work and dedication. This award actually belongs to them more than it belongs to me." As the #3 seed, Alice Lloyd will play #2 seed Brescia in the second round of the tournament on February 24^th.
