Berea's Jerrod Moore Tabbed National Baseball Player of the Week Berea's Jerrod Moore has been named the NAIA National Baseball Player of the Week. Here is the release from the NAIA.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jesse Darrah of Fresno Pacific (Calif.) has been named the NAIA National Baseball Pitcher of the Week and Berea's (Ky.) Jerrod Moore has been tabbed National Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Darrah and Moore were selected based on their performances from March 14 - 20 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.

In a four-game series with No. 3 California Baptist, Darrah came up big for the 15th-ranked Sunbirds in game No. 3 on March 16. Facing the Golden State Athletic Conference's top offense, the junior pitcher tossed a perfect game into the sixth inning and finished with a two-hitter against the Lancers. En route to the 3-0 shutout, Darrah struck out 12 batters.

The junior from Fresno, Calif., leads the Sunbirds in strikeouts (50) and earned run average (2.06). The 50 strikeouts are good for eighth in the NAIA. Darrah also ranks 14th nationally in chances per game with 8.59.

Moore guided Berea to six wins in seven games. In those seven outings, the senior leftfielder was 17-of-28 (.607) at the plate, driving in 14 runs and hitting four home runs. In the Mountaineers' 18-6 win over Cincinnati Christian (Ohio), Moore hit for the cycle, which marks the second-consecutive week that he has hit for the cycle in a game.

The Boaz, Ky., native is hitting .480 for the year and has a slugging percentage of .880, which ranks fourth in the NAIA. Moore also tops the national statistical rankings in hits per game (1.89) and total bases per game (3.47).
