Berea College Baseball Player Jerrod Moore Named NAIA All-American
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2011 NAIA Baseball All-American selections on Monday, June 6. Berea College senior Jerrod Moore was named to the All-American second team.
Moore was named the KIAC Baseball Player of the Year this season. He led the conference with a .460 batting average which was fourth in NAIA Division I. Jerrod led all KIAC baseball hitters this season in nearly every offensive category with a .460 average, an .828 slugging percentage, runs scored (53), hits (75), doubles (17), triples (8), homeruns (9), and total bases (135). Berea College finished third in the regular season and runner-up in the conference tournament.
Moore leaves Berea College near the top in numerous statistical categories. He owns 9 single season offensive records, 8 career offensive records, and is also the all-time saves leader. His .404 career average ranks second all-time at Berea College. Jerrod has received multiple Player of the Week recognitions this season from the KIAC and was named NAIA Player of the Week earlier this season as well. Throughout his career, he was named to the all-conference team each season and was co-freshman of the year in 2008. Jerrod ranks in the top 10 nationally in six different categories. His efforts off the field deserve recognition as well. Jerrod has willingly given of his time to help numerous youth in the area on development of baseball skills, fitness programs, goal-setting, and overcoming adversity.
