WILMORE, Ky. - Asbury women's soccer coach Paul Nesselroade has resigned as announced by Athletics Director Mark Perdue on Monday. The resignation will go into effect January 1, 2013.

Nesselroade has been the head coach of the women's soccer program for 10 years, compiling a 103-103-9 overall record and a 29-14-1 mark in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Nesselroade guided the Eagles to their only appearance in the NAIA National Tournament in 2009. The Eagles have also appeared in five NCCAA National Tournaments, including a program-best fourth-place finish at the 2011 tournament.

"I want to wholeheartedly thank Asbury and the athletic program in particular for allowing me to serve as the head coach of the women's soccer program for these past 10 years," Nesselroade said. "I hope and pray for nothing but the best for AU Athletics as we move into the future."

The program was in its infancy when Nesselroade took over in just its third year and has boosted the Eagles to a perennial conference powerhouse. The Eagles have won six KIAC regular season titles, five tournament titles and have had five KIAC Players of the Year. Nesselroade has placed more than 30 girls on the All-KIAC team and has had two NAIA All-American Honorable Mentions. The Eagles have had three first team NCCAA All-Americans, one second team and eight honorable mentions under Nesselroade.

"I wish to thank Paul and his family for their commitment to Asbury Athletics and I pray for nothing but the best for him in the future," Perdue said.

Asbury has excelled in the classroom as well under Nesselroade with 15 NAIA-Daktronics Scholar Athletes and 16 NCCAA Scholar Athletes. The 2007 and 2011 teams were also honored as NAIA Scholar Teams.

Nesselroade has been named KIAC Coach of the Year four times (2006, 2007, 2009 and 2011).

Assistant coach Jon Ensor will assume interim coach duties on January 1 until a permanent replacement is found. A national search will begin immediately.
