No. 14 IU Southeast Advances to NAIA Second Round

POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. - The No. 14-ranked IU Southeast men's basketball team overcame a poor shooting night from the field to defeat the University of Saint Mary (Kansas) 76-66 to advance to a second round matchup with No. 3 seed Davenport (Mich.).

Brice Mitchell led the way with 20 points. Most of those points came at the free throw line where he made 14-16 shots. The Grenadiers shot 27-33 from the line (82 percent) for the game which was the deciding factor in the game.

Jake Simpson had a solid game with 15 points and seven rebounds. Darryl Bell had 13 points off the bench and scored all of those in the second half.


The Grenadiers forced 20 turnovers and held the Spires to 35 percent shooting. IU Southeast did not shoot much better at just 38 percent from the field, and just 25 percent from three-point range.

The Grenadiers (26-7) outrebounded Saint Mary 46-38.
