Red Wolves cleaned up their act for a good cause on April 14
Indiana University East's athletes helped prove IU Cares in Richmond on April 14.
Red Wolves athletes took part in a pair of community service activities in conjunction with IU Cares Month.
Athletes from the Red Wolves volleyball and men's tennis team took part in the Richmond Parks and Recreation Department 2012 Whitewater Gorge and Cardinal Greenway Clean Up.
The volleyball players were assigned to clean a mile-and-half stretch of the Cardinal Greenway Trail.
The tennis team cleaned up the trail between the the 3rd Street trailhead and Sim Hodgin Parkway. Some coaches and players climbed all the way down to the Whitewater River to clean up the land near the water.
The Red Wolves chose the activity as a "thank you" to the parks department. IU East's tennis and golf teams practice and compete at park facilities.
Athletes from the volleyball and basketball teams also took part in the IU Cares in Richmond activity at the Boys & Girls Club of Wayne County.
The Red Wolves helped clean the club facility and then took on youngsters at the Boys & Girls Club in several rounds of dodge ball.
According to the IU Alumni Association Web site, "During IU Cares Month, alumni team up to contribute to their local communities by volunteering for service projects and activities."
