Berea College freshman Matthew Nelson was named the KIAC men's soccer defensive player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, September 2nd. Berea College finished the week with a 1-0 record after defeating Johnson University 9-0 at home. Nelson recorded eight saves in the contest and led the Mountaineers to shutout win over Johnson University. Berea College is 1-0 on the season. They will return to action on September 6 when they compete in the Transylvania Showcase.
