St. Louis College of Pharmacy's third-year setter Kaitlyn Laboube broke the school record for career assists during a home match with MacMurray College on Friday, Sept. 27. The previous record has held since 2008, when then-Eutectic setter Michelle Turner racked up 1722 assists in the final match of her fourth and final year of competition.

Without much fanfare – and even a look of surprise from Laboube, the game was stopped to make the announcement that with her 22nd assist of the match, she became the new record-holder. The game ball was recovered after her assist that broke the record so that it could be presented to Laboube during a special announcement at the STLCOP Volleyball Tournament next weekend. Laboube, a third-year from Berger, Mo., looks to rack up many more assists throughout the rest of the 2013 season as well as next fall in her final season of eligibility to boost her number in the STLCOP record books.

Laboube is currently ranked fourth in the KIAC for assists per set, averaging 8.2. She also excels in the service aces per set category, leading the conference at 0.6. As it turns out, serving could eventually be her ticket to another STLCOP career record. In the STLCOP record books, Laboube has just cracked into the top-ten for career aces this season with 117 so far. Based on her recent averages, Laboube is on track to break the STLCOP for career aces of 176 by the end of her eligibility next fall.

Laboube was named St. Louis College of Pharmacy Athlete of the Year for 2012-13 for her stellar accomplishments on the volleyball court and has been named MVP of the Eutectic volleyball team for the past two years.
