Alex Mateo, Point Park University – Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Point Park University sophomore Alex Mateo was named the KIAC baseball pitcher of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, April 21^st. This is his third pitcher of the week award of the season.

Mateo threw his fourth 1-hitter of the season against Berea College on April 18^th. The win secured the KIAC regular season title for the Pioneers. The Point Park sophomore struck out 8 Berea hitters in the contest. Mateo ranks 4^th in the KIAC with a 2.61 earned run average and leads the conference in opposing batting average (.203). He is also 6^th in innings pitched (48.1) and 2^nd in strike outs (48).

Point Park University is 35-13 overall and 16-4 in conference play. They will return to action April 23-26 at the KIAC Baseball Tournament in Kingsport, TN.
