FLORENCE, Ky. – A key conference matchup at the midway point of the season is the "KIAC Game of the Week" featuring IU Southeast at Rio Grande in volleyball action on Friday, Oct. 2, the KIAC has announced. As the calendar turns to October and KIAC volleyball gets into full force, both teams are battling for positioning in the conference. IU Southeast is 8-7 overall, 3-2 KIAC after Thursday's 3-0 home win over Brescia (Ky.). Rio Grande has a strong record of 10-3 overall and is 2-1 KIAC after two straight conference victories.

Rio Grande is currently in fifth place in the KIAC, and IU Southeast is right behind in sixth place. The top eight teams make the KIAC Tournament scheduled for next month at Rio Grande.

Rio Grande currently leads the KIAC in kills per set with 12.6, and is third in the conference in hitting percentage at .206. The RedStorm is also second in the KIAC in assists per set (11.0), service aces per set (2.0) and digs per set (17.8).

RedStorm setter Kayla Briley leads the KIAC in assists at 9.8 per set. Libero Chandler Brown is second in the conference with 5.3 digs per set. On the attack, middle hitter Alex Phillips is third in the KIAC in hitting percentage at .298 and has 102 kills. Right-side hitter Aleah Pelphrey has a team-high 114 kills.

IU Southeast is third in the KIAC in digs with 16.4 per set. The Grenadiers are sixth in the conference in both hitting percentage (.185) and kills per set (11.1).

Outside hitter Hannah Joly has a team-high 141 kills and is also third on the team with 116 digs. Monica Loftus has 114 kills, and Michala Beasley has 82 kills. Beasley's hitting percentage of .252 is tops on the team and fifth in the conference. Setter Hannah Barker averages 8.80 assists per set, and libero Taylor Sutton averages 5.00 digs per set.
