KIAC Women's Golf Fall Preview Day 1 Recap
GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- Asbury (Ky.) University has a one-shot lead over Brescia (Ky.) University after Friday's first round of the KIAC Women's Golf Fall Preview Tournament being held at the Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown, Ky. Six of the seven KIAC women's golf teams are in attendance for what is a preview of the conference championships this coming spring.
Asbury shot a team score of 340, and Brescia is just one shot back at 341 after 18 holes. Midway (Ky.) University is in third placeat 352. The final round is scheduled for Saturday featuring 18 holes.
IU Kokomo (364), IU East (374) Midway's B Team (391) and Point Park (392) round of the team standings after day one. There are 38 players in the field, but only 13 of them scored below 90. It was a tough scoring day with temperatures in the 50s and wins at 15- to 20-miles per hour.
Courtney Lucas of Brescia (Ky.) is the individual leader after 18 holes with an 80. Teammate Nicole Burns is two shots back and in third place with an 82. Midway's Kathryn Lawler is in second place with an 81.
Team leader Asbury has its top player in fourth place, Amanda Smith with an 83. Breanna Nowak of IU East is in fifth place with an 84.
Asbury and Brescia are out in front of the team standings due to both teams having four players shoot in the 80s. IU Kokomo and Midway each have two players in the 80s.
