KIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Erica Roney (Point Park)
FLORENCE, Ky. – Point Park University goalkeeper Erica Roney recorded two shutouts last week and was named the KIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 28-Oct. 4.
Roney, a 5-6 senior from Springdale, Pa., has won the weekly honor for the second time this year. She had four saves in a 7-0 win over Brescia, a game that was 1-0 for the first 40 minutes. Roney also had a big game of 15 saves to preserve the shutout in a 2-0 win at Cincinnati Christian.
Roney's play improved Point Park to 6-3-1 overall and 3-0 KIAC for the first place in the conference. She has played every minute of all 10 games thus far for the Pioneers and has given up 14 goals for an average of 1.37 per game.
