KIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Kelvin Goodwin (Point Park)
FLORENCE, Ky. -- Point Park (Pa.) University senior guard Kelvin Goodwin averaged 31.0 points per game and had a high of 42 points the week of Nov. 9-15 to earn KIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors.
Goodwin is a 6-0 guard from Wheeling Park, W.Va., who is in his first year at Point Park since transferring from Slippery Rock (Pa.). His week was highlighted by a career-high 42 points at Washington Adventist Nov. 10. He also had 11 rebounds, four assists and four steals that game.
Goodwin followed that up with 20 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals at Buffalo State Nov. 14. For the week, he averaged 31.0 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 5.0 apg and 3.0 spg. He shot 7 for 21 from 3-point range and 18 of 18 (83 percent) from the foul line.
For the year, Goodwin is averaging 23.4 ppg to rank second in the KIAC and 16th in NAIA Division II. He is second in the KIAC with 6.4 assists per game and 10th nationally. Goodwin and the Pioneers (3-2) return to action Nov. 17 at home versus Villa Maria (NY).
