KIAC WBB Player of the Week: Sarah Bonar (Rio Grande)
FLORENCE, Ky. -- For the third time this season and the second time in a row, the University of Rio Grande's Sarah Bonar is the KIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. She claimed the latest honor for her play Dec. 14-20.
Bonar, a 5-11, senior forward from Hartford, Ohio, played all but 40 seconds in two games as Rio Grande went 2-0 on the week. For the week, she averaged 25.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, shot 62 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the foul line.
She started off with 32 points in a 96-83 win over St. Catharine (Ky.). She made 15 of 24 field goals in the game. In the next game, Bonar played all 40 minutes and totaled 18 points on 6 of 10 from the field and 6 of 8 from the foul line.
For the year, Bonar is averaging 19.5 ppg to lead the RedStorm (7-4, 0-0 KIAC). That ranks third in the KIAC and 10th in NAIA Division II. Her field-goal percentage of 51.9 percent is 21st in the nation.
Rio Grande returns to action Dec. 30 at Ohio Christian.
